Day 19 of '40 DAYS OF FACING FEARS': assisting at a children's yoga class and almost falling off the edge

Today's challenges were awesome!! (1) assisting at a children's yoga class and (2) doing the 10km Paekakariki Escarpement track

The first challenge was definitely outside of my comfort zone. While I love working with children, I've never taught yoga to them and I had no idea how the class was going to go. Knowing that children need variety, things that capture their attention, play, stories etc, I was intrigued to see how the other yoga teacher would run the class. It turns out that I was right - all of the aforementioned things were built into the class, successfully! Sun salutations were explained via the use of a story; yoga positions were given animal names ('savasana' became 'starfish' pose, etc) and a yoga flow sequence was explained via an adventurous story about a giant. Because of privacy measures I am unable to post photos of the class on Facebook.

The second challenge was the Paekakariki Escarpement track. 10km, narrow track, STEEP drops, lots of stairs... Yes, there was sweat but it was an enjoyable challenge (although, if you are afraid of heights I would definitely not recommend doing the walk!). Great company (the beautiful Charlie and Sophie), and what a day to do it!! It was even hot enough to discard layers (a challenge in itself - to bare more of the body and walk in what was comfortable)! It says that the walk is supposed to take about 3.5 - 4 hours, but we were able to do it (with a decent break to snack and take photos) in 2.5 hours.

Tomorrow's challenge? Either Tai Chi or a Kung Fu class - yet to be decided.

If you know of any challenging things coming up during the next few weeks, definitely let me know! <3 xx
